A Tribute to Yanping

This month we had the tragic news that one of our wonderful community fundraisers, Yanping Brownhill, had sadly died.

Yanping was diagnosed with breast cancer seven years ago and had been receiving cancer treatment at Milton Keynes University Hospital. Initially, Yanping was told by doctors that she had only two weeks to live. Despite this, Yanping wanted to give something back and say thank you to the NHS and to the staff who treated her here at MKUH. She started fundraising for our charity almost two years ago and has raised over £1,000.

To help raise funds, Yanping set herself lots of challenges including going on walks, doing some indoor cycling, baking cakes and making jewellery and handmade cards. She often ran fundraising stalls in the main entrance of the hospital too.

Earlier this year Yanping said: “I hope you will help me with my fundraising and donate to my page – all donations will go to Milton Keynes Hospital Charity who will use the money where it is most needed to improve the experience of patients and staff at the hospital.”

Yanping is such an inspiration to us, and we will miss her very much. If you’d like to read more about her story you can visit her fundraising page here.
