Baby bereavement team receives support from local businesses

At Milton Keynes Hospital Charity we feel very fortunate to receive gift-in-kind support from so many local businesses and organisations. These businesses and organisations donate various items that help fund projects that enhance patient experience here at MKUH.

Here’s a little recap of what the baby bereavement team at MKUH have done with the gift-in-kind support they have received during March.

Costco provide lunch for delegates attending baby bereavement training

Tracy Rea – specialist baby bereavement midwife at MKUH, pictured below – organised a study day designed for maternity, neonatal staff and any other healthcare professional whose work involved supporting parents when a pregnancy ends and when a baby dies. The aim of the study day was to help staff feel better prepared and more confident to care for bereaved parents. Costco agreed to fund lunch for all delegates attending. Kerry and Wendy (pictured below) welcomed Tracy to the warehouse to collect all of the lunch items and commented “This is such a worthwhile event and an invaluable support, I am sure, for those affected by such tragedy.” The Costco team were also more than happy to join other businesses such as GXO, Tesco Bletchley, Tesco Wolverton, Morrisons and our onsite shops at MKUH, Little Fresh and League of Friends, in donating chocolate to be used as prizes in Tracy’s chocolate tombola fundraiser. The tombola was a huge success and raised £671 for the baby bereavement fund.

Ikea donate frames for baby bereavement team’s foot cast project

The baby bereavement team also received support from Ikea – Milton Keynes in the form of a donation of 30 frames. These frames will be used by Tracy and the team to help create precious memories for parents in the form of foot casts.
