Alijca’s story

An incredible £1,755 raised for our Cancer Centre & Breast Cancer Unit
At only 35, Alicja was diagnosed with breast cancer. After completing treatment and receiving the-all clear in January 2021, she started the ‘Couch to 5km’ challenge and took on the Milton Keynes Half Marathon.

It was easily the darkest time of my life. All of this in the middle of the pandemic and just three months after giving birth to my second child. I was awaiting various tests and scans and about to start chemotherapy which was to be followed by a double mastectomy and hormone treatment. Too much to even get my head around at the time.
I was fortunate that my cancer was found early and I was able to receive exceptional treatment on the NHS which I will be forever grateful for. It was tough physically, even more so mentally but I did it and was given the all clear in January 2021.
Alicja
Alicja raised an incredible £1,755 which was split between our Cancer Centre and Breast Care Unit in addition to CoppaFeel who campaign and educate young women on how to best check their breasts.
