A lady in a blue volunteering top in a hospital environment

We have a wonderful army of volunteers here at Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH), in fact, we have over 100 volunteers across our services!

They’re very special to us and play many important roles, whether they’re keeping patients company on the wards, helping maintain our courtyard gardens, or supporting our small charity team. Our volunteers are also our face and voice in the community!

There are so many good reasons to volunteer. You’ll meet new people, make lifelong friends, and learn plenty of new skills, all whilst giving something back to your local hospital and enhancing patient experience.

Just 3 hours a week is all we ask, unless you’d like to commit more of course! Any questions? Reach out to our friendly Voluntary Services team.

  1. Sign up as a Dining Companion to sit with patients and keep them company at lunchtime – you’ll make their day!
  2. Become a Butterfly Volunteer to support someone nearing end of life
  3. Be more Monty Don by helping maintain our hospital courtyard gardens that are designed to bring calm and peace to patients
  4. Run stalls for the charity at fairs, carnivals, and events
  5. Distribute collection tins and promotional materials
  6. Encourage friends, family, and colleagues to support us
