Inaugural Golf Day raises £60,000 for Cancer Centre

A staggering £60,000 has been raised for the Milton Keynes Cancer Centre following the inaugural Milton Keynes Hospital Charity Golf Day.

In partnership with the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire George Anson and with support from His Grace the Duke of Bedford and lead sponsor Bewick Homes, the Golf Day was held at Woburn Golf Club on Tuesday 19 October.

A total of 26 teams participated in the event, which featured a round of golf on the beautiful Marquess course, followed by dinner and an auction conducted by celebrity auctioneer Charles Hanson.

The incredible final total was raised thanks to the generosity of guests and sponsors, which included Alpha at Oscars, Amber Print, Austin and Carnley Solicitors, Coca Cola, CW Plant Hire, Duncan Sinclair, Bewick Homes and Ivan Twigden.

Now the funds will be spent on a special multi-disciplinary team facility in the cancer centre, to help staff better support patients with cancer throughout their journey.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to all that organised and participated in the charity golf event on Tuesday to raise money for a multidisciplinary facility in the cancer centre.”

“The addition of this facility will enable our cancer services team to run additional clinical meetings to discuss and plan treatments. It means we can improve timelines of care supporting patients living with and beyond cancer.”

“Golf and worthy causes go well together. Being able to put my golf shoes on while High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire to support the Milton Keynes Cancer Centre is one of the highlights of my Shrieval year. I am very grateful to all the generous sponsors, volunteers and golfers who very generously made this Charity Golf Day such a success.”

“We are always overwhelmed by the support we receive from our community and to see this incredible amount raised is amazing. These funds will go directly towards helping the thousands of cancer patients hospital staff see every year. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took part – thank you.”
