We are delighted to share a very special and important video, made possible by your generous donations to Milton Keynes Hospital Charity. This video, which supports the launch of Milton Keynes University Hospital’s (MKUH) brand-new 3D tour tool for the Neonatal Unit (NNU), was developed in collaboration with parents and families who’ve entrusted the NNU with the care of their newborns.
In the video*, Carla, Lauren, Sophie, Ravi and Khilna, Toni, and Laurie, share their personal experiences in the NNU and the reasons why they believe the 3D tour tool will be so valuable for new parents who may not know what to expect when coming into the unit.
Diane Gray, Senior Sister and Family Integrated Care Lead at MKUH, said:
We recognise that having a baby is an emotional time and even more so if your baby requires neonatal care. Many families have never even heard of the Neonatal Unit so this will help increase awareness. Other feedback from families has highlighted the importance of providing a tool that can help reduce anxieties by reinforcing information given by staff and enable them to share the video with other children and family members so they can appreciate where they are.
Our hope is that the tour and supporting resources provide reassurance to families, support them to be fully involved in their baby’s care and improves neonatal family experience. On behalf of the Neonatal Unit, I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Milton Keynes Hospital Charity and its supporters. Without their generosity, the supporting video—an essential piece of this project—would not have been possible.
